The winner of the VOCM Cares 2021 Gordon Seabright Volunteer of the Year Award has been crowned.
The award, established in 2014, commemorates the work of Gordon Seabright, a dedicated board member of the VOCM Cares Foundation.
It recognizes someone who has gone above and beyond for their community.
Evelyn Rumbolt is this year’s winner of the award for her work fundraising for the Grenfell Health Foundation, the local food bank in St. Anthony, and the air cadets.
Rumbolt, started volunteering at age 14 and is still giving back to the community at age 78.
Due to her efforts, thousands of dollars have been raised to improve healthcare in the Labrador-Grenfell region.
VOCM’s Ben Murphy and VOCM Cares Development Director Tara Haley broke the news to Rumbolt this morning.
Rumbolt was speechless, but called it an honour.
She says it’s an even bigger honour to have met Seabright years ago.
