The association which represents doctors doesn’t think much of a move by the provincial government to drop the requirement that all physicians be a member of the organization.
The news comes at a time when the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association and government are locked in a dispute over a new contract.
The NLMA walked away from the talks yesterday, citing a lack of progress.
They say government has to improve the incentive package.
NLMA President Dr. Susan McDonald says the timing is suspicious at best, and is an attempt to break the association.
She says the association interprets the move as nothing more than a divide and conquer tactic, something she says is “just not on.”
