The Opposition wasted no time grilling government in the House of Assembly on the cyber attack affecting health care authorities.
Opposition Leader David Brazil asked Health Minister John Haggie for more information on the cyber attack and its effects on the operations within the health care system and patients.
Brazil asked about the back up for health information which was also compromised according to the minister’s comments at this morning’s news conference.
“How could the backup information be vulnerable to attack?” asked Brazil.
Haggie says Bell is conducting an analysis of the cause of the system failure and will be presented once it is complete.
That will be “several days yet”, says Haggie.
Meanwhile, Haggie expects another update later today regarding the scope of the system attack.
Brazil questioned Haggie about the possibility that personal information has been breached as a result of the cyber attack, with Haggie indicating that he expected more information on that front some time today.
