Environment Canada is warning of a possible early-season snowfall Friday night.
St. John’s, metro, the Avalon, Clarenville and Marystown all have a special weather statement in effect.
Environment Canada says up to 5 cm of snow could fall over eastern Newfoundland Friday night through to Saturday morning.
Highest accumulations are expected inland and over higher elevations. The snow is expected to mix with rain over some areas, especially over southern region and will taper off Saturday morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate according to Environment Canada. Drivers should be prepared for winter driving conditions.
