Most parts of the island are under some sort of weather warning today as the first major storm of the season bears down.
Western areas will fare okay with between 5 and 15 cm but the south coast, central and eastern Newfoundland is in for 25 cm while the Avalon gets a mixture of snow and rain.
Tiffany Cheeks, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says it could be a messy morning commute in metro as the snow will intensify around mid-morning.
The snow, 10 to 15 cm, changes to rain in the afternoon and winds pick up tomorrow night with gusts to 100 to 110 km/h.
Snow amounts will be heavier from Marystown to Harbour Breton, Central Newfoundland and the Clarenville region with up to 30 cm.
Those areas are under a winter storm warning.
