Opposition parties are calling on the governing Liberals to pay back the money they received from the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy.
That program was designed to help businesses cover a portion of their employees’ wages.
The Liberals were the only political party in the province to access the program.
They received just over $35,000.
Interim PC Leader David Brazil says the program was not meant to replace political fundraising.
He says legally, they may have been eligible, but morally they were not.
He thought Newfoundland and Labrador was better than that.
All federal parties except the Bloc also got money from the program, and Brazil is calling on them as well to return the wage subsidy money.
