The province’s Child and Youth Advocate says while leaving the post at the end of the month will be bittersweet, she’s really looking forward to her retirement.
Jackie Lake Kavanagh calls her choice to retire one of the most difficult decisions of her life, but says she looks forward to the time to pursue some personal goals and spend time with her family.
She says her intention is to “truly retire” and jokes that if she lives to be 150, she’ll never get through her “to do” list.
In the meantime, Lake Kavanagh released two investigative reports yesterday.
She says both outline situations involving a failure in providing timely intervention, secure attachments and ensuring that a child has a safe, protective and nurturing environment from infancy.
