The pandemic was a lonely time for many people. Some brought a new pet into their homes, perhaps to help them cope with the stress and isolation.
Narrative research has just released survey results on pet ownership with more than half of all households claiming to own at least one pet.
Margaret Chapman, COO of Narrative Research, says pet ownership is higher in Atlantic Canada than the rest of the country with about 7 per cent of the population owning one.
A third of existing pet owners adopted a new pet during the pandemic.
