A man was taken to the Lockup after hitting the gas instead of the brakes when the RNC flashed the lights on him on the TCH in St. John’s in the late afternoon on Wednesday.
Police were tipped off regarding a possible impaired driver in the west end, locating the vehicle a short time after the call but the driver chose to flee. Officers caught up with the 34-year-old man a short time later.
He has been charged with drunk driving, driving while prohibited, flight from police and several breaches of court orders.
