A concert in memory of a legendary Newfoundland and Labrador singer/songwriter has been cancelled.

The Night of a Thousand Rons, in memory of Ron Hynes, was scheduled to take place at the Delta Hotel Ballroom in St. John’s on December 29. However, Heather McKinnon, Ron’s cousin and administrator of his estate, took to Facebook Sunday evening to announce that the event had been cancelled.

It was being put off as a fundraiser to help with the lingering debts of Hynes’ estate.

McKinnon says the show of support for the initiative was overwhelming.

She says information regarding refunds will soon be available, and they’re going to give the concert another try on the same date in 2022.
