A presumptive positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at the Voisey’s Bay mine site.
According to a memo sent to employees earlier today, the worker arrived at the site on Monday and participated in all usual screening protocols.
On Tuesday, the test returned as a presumptive positive.
The person was immediately placed in isolation and a second test was performed, which was sent to public health for confirmation.
The employee remains in isolation on site.
The company goes on to say that proximity badges are worn by everyone on site, and anyone confirmed to be a close contact will be contacted by medical staff.
As well, effective immediately all camps have returned to full segregation and all recreational facilities on site have closed.
