There were no serious injuries in an afternoon house fire today in the east end of St. John’s.
One person was being treated for burns in an ambulance at the scene, while two children reportedly escaped unharmed.
The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. in an end unit of townhouses on McGrath Place, off Higgins Line.
It took more than a dozen firefighters less than a half hour to put it out and give the all-clear.
Three chickens were also rescued from the neighbouring attached house.
Firefighters were aided by the RNC, Newfoundland Power and Eastern Health paramedics at the scene.
Talk of a Go Fund Me effort for the affected families was already making the rounds as neighbours looked on.
