Drivers on the west coast should keep an eye peeled for caribou. There have been a lot of sightings the past while, particularly the section of the TCH from the Burgeo Highway intersection to the end of the moose fencing, and on Route 460 (White’s Road.)
A significant number of caribou are currently active in these areas making them vulnerable to vehicular traffic. These animals are expected to remain in the region throughout the winter.
It’s not a bad idea to reduce speed, especially at night.
