The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reminding those getting behind the wheel this holiday season to keep safety top of mind.

RNC Constable James Cadigan says there are a number of things that can cause issues on the road, especially in messy winter weather.

He is reminding drivers not drive aggressively, to take your time, and to never drive distracted.

Cadigan says if you are going to be operating a vehicle on roadways across the province this Christmas, planning ahead is key.

Cadigan says if you are going to have a few drinks, or use cannabis ensure that you have transportation lined up, use a cab, or spend the night. He says there are many ways to avoid getting behind the wheel impaired. He says nobody should put themselves or others in danger.
