Ecotourism is one of the fastest growing area of the global tourism industry and a new project is hoping to capitalize on this province’s unique natural wonders.
Jared Clarke with Bird the Rock is working with Destination St. John’s on something called the Communities of Interest Project.
Clarke says all levels of government recognize the popularity of ecotourism and the potential here for both birdwatchers and nature photographers.
The project, which is funded by ACOA, is about leveraging some of the amazing bird photography already being shared through social media, and spreading the word about local birding opportunities by using hashtags like #birdNL.
