St. John’s MP and federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a tweet late Monday, O’Regan said he’s isolating and following all public health guidance.
O’Regan says his positive result was confirmed by a rapid test, but he didn’t say how he might have contracted the virus.
“I’m grateful for my three vaccine doses, for the thousands of health care workers keeping us safe, and for the vigilance of millions of Canadians,” he said on Twitter. “Hold fast.”
O’Regan is one of numerous politicians to recently confirm positive tests, including Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly.
Caseloads have been spiking around the world with record numbers since the emergence of the Omicron variant.
Took a rapid test and tested positive for COVID. I’ll stay in isolation and continue to follow public health guidelines.
I’m grateful for my three vaccine doses, for the thousands of health care workers keeping us safe, and for vigilance of millions of Canadians.
Hold fast 🇨🇦.
