Canadian Blood Services is still open and is asking people to roll up their sleeves to help fill the immediate need for blood donors.
In the St. John’s area, there are over 200 open appointments between now and January 15th, 2022.
The holidays are a tough time for blood collection, limiting the days on which people can donate and exacerbated by the limited shelf-life of blood products, like platelets, which only last about seven days.
Donors are especially needed before January 1st!
If you’re in general good health, now more than ever we need your support to fill every available appointment this holiday season.

Canadian Blood Services has enhanced COVID-19 protocols in place and their staff are fully vaccinated, allowing donors to meet their appointments.
All blood types are welcome but the need for O-negative never slacks because it can be used by recipients of all blood types.
