The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Union is urging government to impose stronger safety protocols in the province’s schools once students return to in-class learning.
Classes resume next Wednesday, but because of the current surge in COVID numbers, students will receive their instruction virtually.
The situation will be reassessed on a week-by-week basis.
NLTA President Trent Langdon says Omicron has changed the game when it comes to transmission and while the union supports the move to online learning teachers have to be confident that precautions in place are “up to the Omicron challenge” when in-class instruction does resume.
