With hundreds of new cases being identified daily, public health officials have had to make some changes to its case and contact management procedures to ensure that people are notified of exposures as quickly as possible.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says positive test results can now be found online.
If you have a positive test result, self-isolate and wait for a call from Public Health for further instructions.
In the meantime, anyone who tests positive will be asked to notify people with whom they had close contact up to 72 hours prior to their symptoms developing.
“We know that our best defence against Omicron is speed,” says Fitzgerald.
Those who test positive will be given a letter to send to their contacts with detailed instructions on self-isolation and testing requirements.
She says sending out letters to close contacts is the quickest method to notify contacts and get them into isolation as soon as possible.
