Corner Brook City Council has approved a new aquatics centre.

The $22-million facility will include a six-lane 25 metre competition pool, gymnasium, multi-purpose room, daycare facilities, a water slide and lazy river, fitness area and saunas.

Pomerleau Construction has been awarded the contract.

Mayor Jim Parsons calls it an important step which will benefit the community for decades to come.
