The PC health critic is calling the provincial government’s vaccine booster rollout a “chaotic” program that has resulted in increased anxiety for many across the province.
Paul Dinn references comments made by Premier Andrew Furey on the VOCM Morning Show where he stated that reducing the eligibility dates for boosters resulted in half the province to be eligible at the one time.
Therein lies the problem, says Dinn, who notes that people were left scrambling to get their shot, and the pharmacies were caught off guard in trying to meet the demand.
He cites issues with frontline healthcare workers trying to get their booster shots, and issues with seniors getting theirs as examples of the problems that have ensued, noting that establishing a priority system would have helped ease the burden on the system.
He notes that there are some forms of classification built in, but it isn’t a plan, and “lacks common sense ” in what’s been done over the last two years to try to roll the vaccines out.
