A new primary health care clinic for people without a family doctor is now open for community walk-ins.

The clinic, located at 50 Mundy Pond Road in St. John’s, will be open Monday to Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and available to treat minor health issues or injuries.

At this time, the clinic is walk-in only on a first-come, first-served basis and is staffed by one physician and one registered nurse.

They will be providing care for up to 24 patients a day to start, but the long-term goal for the clinic is for it to be staffed by a rotating team of health care providers including family doctors and nurse practitioners and serving around 60 to 70 patients per day.

Individuals who are not seriously ill are encouraged to go to the clinic instead of a hospital emergency department,
