Canada defeated Italy 7-3 in men’s curling at the Olympics this morning.
The Gushue Rink led 4-3 going into the 9th and put the game away with a three-ender. The match was tied at the midway point.
Italy falls to 1-5 while Canada improves to 4-2. Gushue won their first two matches of the tournament, lost their next two, and have won their last two.
Sweden leads the pack with a 5-0 mark.
Team Gushue’s next match against China begins at 9:30 p.m. NST tonight.
Meanwhile, there’s a new provincial men’s curling champion. The Nathan Young Rink dethroned Greg Smith as Newfoundland and Labrador representative at the Tim Horton’s Brier yesterday in St. John’s. Young scored two in the 8th and one in the 9th to seal the 8-4 victory.
