The Executive Director of the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador is highlighting the closure of churches across the province as one of the more pressing challenges facing built heritage in this province.
Dale Jarvis says the closure of church buildings, some of which display unique heritage characteristics is something that’s been happening gradually over the number of years and shows no sign of abating.
He says there will be more historic buildings put up for sale or going empty as congregations continue to shrink.
