A central Newfoundland tourism operator is proposing to develop a new kind of outdoor accommodation near the Exploits River.
A company known as Red Indian Adventures Limited is proposing to construct four geodesic dome accommodation units at its existing tourism business, about 20 km west of Grand Falls-Windsor.
Construction of the “glamping” accommodations would include the clearing of land, installation of concrete pillar foundations, well drilling and septic system installation.
Underground connections would also be required to connect the domes to existing power lines on-site.
Construction is set to begin in May of 2022 if approved through the environmental assessment process and is expected to take 3 to 4 months to complete.
The deadline for public comment is the end of March, with the minister’s decision due by April 10th.
