Support for the people of Ukraine is pouring in from all corners of the world, including from in this province where a local bakery has upped their efforts to support the war-torn nation.

On Saturday, Volcano Bakery announced the sale of special sugar cookies, with the Ukranian flag on them, with the proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross.

Moreover, the Bakery says they will be matching each dollar donated.

Owner Krista Neville says she was not expecting the response she received, with the cookies selling out in about an hour.

Even after the cookies sold out she still had people coming in an donating money into the cause.

She hasn’t counted the money that was collected after the cookies sold out yet. But, at $5 a piece, they’re looking at over $300 for the cookies themselves. With the bakery matching the donations, she says at least $620 will be donated.

She says they’ve been getting a lot of messages about the cookies, and they will be selling more in the future.
