Small businesses are continuing to struggle and the federal government needs to come to the table to address expansion of mandatory paid sick leave in the workplace.
As the country transitions to living with the Omicron variant of COVID-19, concerns have been raised about allowing employees the opportunity to take time off when sick without having to jeopardize their income.
That’s according to provincial Labour Minister Bernard Davis, just out of meetings with this federal, provincial and territorial counterparts.
Davis acknowledges the pandemic has been hard on small business and they want to make sure that if a mandatory sick leave policy is introduced, that it’s fair to all.
That’s why the federal government needs to be at the table says Davis to ensure that businesses don’t continue to be hard hit.
