The provincial NDP welcomes news of their federal counterparts’ alliance with the Liberal government.
Interim leader Jim Dinn calls the agreement a good news story for all across the country, saying it will bring needed relief to people who are struggling.
The agreement is contingent on the implementation of NDP policies, such as national dental care and pharmacare.
Dinn is calling on the federal Liberals to deliver on the deal and not squander what he calls a “once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand the national medicare plan.”
Dinn’s comments did not include any reference to the Bay du Nord project.
The Canadian Dental Association says they are surprised by the news that the federal government is considering a federal dental care program, but that they support efforts to improve access for those who need it most.
They say it’s important that any new initiatives do not disrupt access to care for the large majority of Canadians who already have dental benefits through their employer.
They will be working closely with the federal government as they work to address Canadians’ dental care needs.
