The Canadian government is placing sanctions against 160 more Russian officials in response to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Trudeau made the announcement Thursday following meetings of the NATO military alliance and G7 leaders in Brussels.
He says another 160 members of the Russian Federation Council will be sanctioned, bringing the total number of Russians sanctioned by Canada to 964.
In the meantime, Canada is pledging additional troops to NATO forces in Europe.
Up to 3,400 troops, including those with air, land and maritime capabilities have been pledged.
$50 million is also being allocated for humanitarian aid, including the World Food Program, the Canadian Red Cross and the WHO among others.
