Over two million fish are being culled after an outbreak of infectious salmon anemia at a Stephenville hatchery.
Mowi Canada East is euthanizing 2.26 million salmon after detecting ISA during routine sampling at the aquaculture facility.
The salmon destroyed weighed an average of 104 grams.
Infectious salmon anemia is a naturally occurring disease that poses no risk to humans.
The company says they have assembled a team of experts to investigate the situation, in order to prevent it from happening again.
