The FFAW is holding rallies today in St. John’s and in Corner Brook to protest what they say is “unfairness” in the setting of fish prices.
The union says that for years they have been asking for policies to hold companies more accountable and increase competition in fish processing. However, they say all demands have fallen on deaf ears, been blocked, ignored, or outright refused.
They say the Association of Seafood Producers’ attempt to have Earl McCurdy removed from the fish pricing panel was the “last straw” and is something that cannot stand.
The rallies are happening at 11 a.m. at Confederation Building in St. John’s and the Civic Centre in Corner Brook.
