Fire at a seniors apartment building in the west end of St. John’s late last night has left about a dozen people in temporary emergency accommodations.
The fire, which broke out just after 10:30 p.m., was contained to a single room in the building. Although damage from the fire was minimal, there was extensive water damage to ten of the units from the sprinkler system.
There are no reported injuries.
The four-storey Barachois Grove complex is located on Pasadena Crescent just off Columbus Drive near Topsail Road.
St. John’s Regional Fire Department, the RNC and Canadian Red Cross volunteers were on the scene.
