Richard Alexander is stepping down from his role as executive director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Employers’ Council.
Alexander is leaving to join Restaurants Canada as their vice-president for the Atlantic region.
He started his work with the employers’ council in 2002, becoming executive director in 2007.
In a statement, the council’s board of directors says Alexander’s strong leadership and media presence dramatically enhanced the organization and its voice.
They highlight several accomplishments during his tenure, including speaking out on various issues, commissioning numerous studies, including Achieving Sustainable Prosperity in NL, and more.
Board chairperson Twila Reid says Alexander has carried the local business community through many challenges over the last 15 years.
He officially leaves the organization on May 13th.
Longtime council employee Jaclyn Sullivan will serve as acting executive director while a selection process is carried out for a permanent replacement.
