The Newfoundland Growlers tasted defeat for the first time in this year’s Kelly Cup playoffs, falling 3-2 to Trois-Rivières Lions in Quebec last night.
Tyler Boland and Zach O’Brien scored for the Growlers but Anthony Nellis had a hat trick, including the winner with 22 seconds left in regulation. Ben Finkelstein assisted on both Newfoundland goals.
The two teams go at it again tomorrow night at 8:30 NDT with the Growlers leading 2-1.
