An inquiry into the Treatment, Experiences and Outcomes of Innu in Child Protection will be officially launched today.
Outspoken Innu activist, Simeon Tshakapesh led the charge for an inquiry into child services after his teenage son Thunderheart died in care back in 2017.
The Inquiry will be led by Commissioner Judge James Igloliorte along with former Sheshatshiu Band Council Chief Anastasia Qupee and Dr. Mike Devine.
Members of the Innu leadership including Innu Nation Deputy Grand Chief Mary Ann Nui will join Judge Igloliorte and Premier Andrew Furey this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Confederation Building.
