A surprise snowfall in parts of central Newfoundland and adjacent areas overnight has made for slippery conditions on the highways. Brandon Sawchuck, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says the region got between 10 and 15 cm.
The temperature will warm up throughout the day he says, so some of the snow will begin to melt.
Meanwhile, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has an outage on its hands. It is removing ice from the lines in the area of Lascie on the Baie Verte Peninsula. The power is expected back on by suppertime.
