For the first time, a young woman has publicly given her account of an alleged sexual assault at the hands of Stephen Hopkins in September of 2020.
The young woman, now 18, says she was sitting on the front step of her house at 9 in the morning, having a coffee, when Hopkins approached her.
They exchanged good mornings, he asked for a glass of water and she obliged. But after he downed it in one gulp, she says he pushed her inside and slammed the door behind them.
She says she screamed and struggled as he pulled off her sweatpants and underwear, exposed himself, then put her over his shoulder and carried her to a bedroom.
She managed to run to another room but he gave chase, throwing her on a bed, touching her and briefly performing oral sex, with the girl kicking, punching and screaming, then biting him on the arm.
She says at some point he shouted “F–k it—I can’t”—released her from his grasp and quickly left, but not before warning—“If you tell anyone, I’ll burn your f—ing house down.”
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
