RCMP arrested a total of six impaired drivers across the province between Friday evening and early Sunday morning.
The first incident happened around 5 p.m. Friday when Bay St. George RCMP responded to reports of an ATV accident on a trail near Ned’s Pond. The 52-year-old man failed a roadside breath test, but refused to provide further samples back at the RCMP detachment.
Then, at 1:30 Saturday morning police stopped a speeding driver in Botwood. They say the 63-year-old man behind the wheel, had open alcohol in the vehicle and later blew nearly twice the legal limit.
Over the next 24 hours four more impaired drivers would be caught by the RCMP—two in Stephenville, one in Botwood, and the other in Harbour Grace.
All six drivers had their licenses suspended and vehicles impounded. They have all been released to appear in court at a later date.
