A local mental health advocate is optimistic with the development of the new Adult Mental Health and Addictions hospital in St. John’s.
The hospital is expected to be open by late 2024.
Glenn Roil, the recipient of the 2021 NL Human Rights Awards Champion for Mental Health, says he’s hopeful that the new facility signals a real change in mental health care and services.
He wants to see more people with lived experience not just providing input, but being part of the decision-making process.
He hopes that government also takes that under advisement.
This is Mental Health Awareness Week.
