Things got heated at the North River town council meeting last night.
The meeting was adjourned and RCMP were called when a group of citizens who attended the public meeting started asking the mayor questions related to an ongoing audit, and issues dating back to the previous municipal election.
Two residents were found outside the council building when police arrived last night. No arrests were made.
The town clerk resigned after a financial irregularity was recently flagged. A complete review of the town’s financial records has been requested by council.
The town has indicated that it will offer a further statement once the review is complete, however, that’s not enough for some residents who are expressing frustration over a lack of answers to questions they have regarding the ongoing matter.
