The topic of Red Dress Day gained some attention in the House of Assembly Thursday afternoon.
May 5 is set aside to remember and honour missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls across the country, and to bring attention to the issue.
Opposition Leader David Brazil questioned Premier Andrew Furey about Red Dress Day in the House.
Brazil asked Furey what government is doing to end violence against indigenous women and girls in the province. Furey responded by saying that government recognizes that it is important to do all they can to prevent violence against women, noting that it is a frequent topic on their weekly indigenous calls.
