Make-A-Wish Canada has teamed up with OceanGate Expeditions for a contest that could see someone travel to the site of the Titanic shipwreck.
The winner of the Titanic Expedition Contest will get the chance to be a Mission Specialist as part of an eight-day expedition to the site of the world-famous shipwreck, along with a team of scientists and Titanic experts.
This year marks the 110th anniversary of the sinking of the titanic off the coast of Newfoundland.
Stockton Rush, President of OceanGate Expeditions, says more people have been to space than have been to the Titanic’s shipwreck site, and more people will summit Mount Everest on a single day when the weather is good than have been to the site.
You can help support children with critical illnesses by donating to @MakeAWishCA AND have the chance to join our Titanic Expedition this summer.

Rush says he’s been down on all the dives that his company has done. He says it “feels like you’ve gone to another planet”, noting that they see all sorts of “bizarre” creatures swim by them as they go down. And then, there’s actually seeing the Titanic itself.
He says when the wreck gets hit by the light its very colorful, noting that it’s the most colorful he’s ever seen.
Funds raised through the contest go towards Make-A-Wish.
VP Brand Marketing Ashley Thorpe says they have about 4,000 children waiting for their wishes to be granted across the country, and the money will go a long way.
She says there’s no better feeling than seeing the smile on the face of a kid when their wish gets revealed and granted.
