Restrictions on outdoor fires in Corner Brook are coming into effect later this week.
Starting Wednesday, June 1, fires such as brush clearing are banned within City limits unless permitted by the fire department, which can be obtained by calling 637-1620.
Backyard and campfires are allowed, as long as the fires are set in a properly designed fireplace with a spark arrestor in place. The fireplace must be made of non-combustible material or fire-rated brick.
No fires of any kind are allowed when the Provincial Fire Weather Index is in the high or extreme range.
