The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association has written an open letter to Health Minister John Haggie asking him to apologize for comments made in the House of Assembly earlier this week about recent concerns raised by a central Newfoundland physician.
Internal medicine specialist Dr. Wendy House, who is based in Grand Falls-Windsor, raised her concerns publicly last week.
Haggie was questioned in the Legislature on the number of health care provider vacancies in rural health centres. The NLMA is asking Haggie to apologize to Dr. House for describing her as a “burnt out” physician in his response to questions from the Opposition.
The NLMA says Dr. House should be commended for speaking out on behalf of the people in central Newfoundland.
