A volunteer firefighter has passed away after an accident that occurred while responding to an emergency near Trinity Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the fire truck was responding to a call for service around 1:45 p.m. when the truck rounded a curve in the Trinity Bight area, left the road, and went down over an embankment.
The firefighter, who was the lone occupant of the truck, was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to hospital in Clarenville where he passed away.
The incident is under investigation.
