A local theatre festival is returning to in-person performances for the first time since 2019.
The Shakespeare by the Sea Festival returns today, July 8 with two new shows, beginning with a classic Shakespeare piece that has been revamped to modern times.
‘Coriolanus’ is a lesser-known Shakespeare play twisted to set in present-day Newfoundland. The play focuses on modern-day issues such as corruption of power, violence, and toxic masculinity.
The festival is running until mid-August. More details and a schedule of performances can be found on the festival’s website.
