They’re calling it their “re-entry year.”
Marystown is resuming its annual Festival of Folk Song and Dance this weekend after two years of COVID hiatus.
Julie Mitchell says the family-friendly event features a full lineup of local talent.
She says the whole idea is to re-establish and celebrate the talent of local residents.
Mitchell says local dancers who were involved in the traditional folk dance revival a few years ago through the school system will be performing as adults. She says the festival is aimed at keeping local traditions going.
They don’t want to lose their old songs, many of which came from outports in Placentia Bay and are incorporated into the festival, either.
The Marystown Festival of Folk Song and Dance takes place at the Marystown Hotel Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
