One man was sent to hospital and four others, including an infant, were displaced by fire Friday morning on Rickett’s Road in St. John’s that damaged a building that included apartments and Stogger’s Pizza.
The Canadian Red Cross arranged for emergency lodging, meals, clothing purchases, and other basics for two men, a woman, and a 3-month-old baby from two apartments.
Similar help will be offered to a man from another apartment who had to be taken to hospital for treatment after fleeing the building by hanging out of a second-storey window where he was rescued by firefighters.
The fire broke out in an upper-level apartment around 9:00 a.m.
Stogger’s Pizza posted a notice on its Facebook page that it will be closed until further notice due to significant fire damage.
