Some customers still don’t have the full range of communications services restored from Friday morning’s failure of the core network at Rogers.
The failure knocked out about 25 per cent of Canada’s connectivity, leaving millions without their devices and messing up the financial network, the health sector and the transportation industry.
Most services were restored by Saturday but even this morning, some callers to VOCM Open Line say they’re still experiencing issues.
Kevin Andrews, a technology teacher, podcaster and blogger on the latest digital trends, says it felt like being back in the 1970s when one could make a purchase only with cash or credit as some debit services were out. He says it shows the need for backup systems.
Rogers is telling customers to be wary of scams offering credit for the outage.
