Drive-in bingo at the Jack Byrne Arena in support of the Eating Disorder Foundation has been saved for now, after a big turnout last week.
Executive director Paul Thomey made a plea on VOCM Open Line last week, indicating that participation had dropped and they were considering cancelling the major fundraiser if things didn’t pick up.
Thomey credits the response from VOCM listeners for the reprieve, but says numbers have to stay high throughout the summer to keep bingo going.
The escalating jackpot of about $1,900 was claimed last week, along with the regular $1,500 jackpot.
Proceeds from the drive-in bingo support the many programs that the Eating Disorder Foundation provides for patients and their families.
Bingo is every Wednesday evening in the Jack Byrne Arena parking lot.
Gates open at 6 p.m., with games starting at 7:15.
